Purple Star is a 1,000-year-old Chinese and Vietnamese system that’s basically the Eastern version of a horoscope — except instead of one sign for your whole life, it splits your life into 12 boxes: money, career, love, health, family, and so on.

Then it drops stars into those boxes. Each star is a personality — The Emperor, The Wolf, The Money General — and wherever a star lands, it colors that part of your life. Get The Money General in your Money box? That says something very different than getting The Wolf.

Which stars land where depends on the exact day and hour you were born. That’s the whole idea.

What this is: a structural calculator. It computes the classical Purple Star Astrology chart — palace positions, star placements, signal strength, the four marks (Gain, Power, Fame, Friction), and 10-year life cycles — from your birth date, hour, and gender, using the traditional lunar calendar. Star and palace names are shown in plain English, with the traditional Vietnamese names alongside.

What this is not: a fortune reading. Interpretation traditions vary between Chinese and Vietnamese schools (and between Vietnamese lineages) — some minor-star placement rules differ, so a chart from your family's practitioner may differ in details. Star positions follow the Zi Wei Dou Shu conventions of the iztro engine. Treat it as cultural mathematics and pattern exploration, not prediction.

Birth hours follow the traditional twelve two-hour animal slots; the Rat hour is split into early (12–1 AM) and late (11 PM–12 AM) per common convention.

Do I need my birth location?

No. The chart is calculated from your local birth time as written on your birth certificate — the same inputs a traditional practitioner would ask for. One caveat: if you were born during daylight saving time or within about 30 minutes of a 2-hour boundary, try both adjacent hours, since your true traditional hour may be the earlier slot.

What if I don't know my exact birth hour?

The hour matters a lot — it decides which palace anchors your chart. If you're unsure, generate charts for the possible hours and see which one's personality description fits you best. That's actually how traditional practitioners narrow it down too.

Is this a fortune-telling site?

No. This tool computes the traditional chart structure and explains what the classical tradition says about each placement, in plain English. It describes the tradition — it doesn't predict your life. Different schools also interpret some details differently.
